Second WTA-Title within reach

Andrea Petkovic has reached the final of the WTA-Tournament in Brisbane. The world’s number 32 defeated Marion Bartoli of France (WTA 16) 6:4; 6:2 in the semifinals. In the first set Andrea was already down 4:1 when she fought her way back into the match winning eight games in a row. In tomorrow’s final Andrea competes against Petra Kvitova (CZE | WTA 34).

"I started off a bit lazy and didn’t move my legs enough", said Andrea after the match. "I’m like a diesel, I need some time to get going. Now I’m really happy and looking forward to my third WTA-Final. I won one, I lost one, so I hope to be able to turn it into a positive record."

Good start in 2011

Andrea Petkovic has advanced to the semifinals of the WTA-Tournament in Brisbane. The 23-year-old defeated Jarmila Groth (WTA 42) of Australia 6:4; 6:3 in the quarterfinals after taking out Alexandra Dulgheru and Jelena Dokic in the two previous rounds.

"I played a good match today", said Andrea after her win against Groth. "I am satisfied with the way I moved on the court and how I served. Tomorrow I’ll have a tough match against Marion Bartoli in the semifinals. It’s a perfect preparation for the Australian Open, because I’ll have another match against a world-class-player. I’ll try to take my chances."

Popovic for 2011

Andrea Petkovic will continue to work with her coach Petar Popovic in 2011. The 28-year-old Serb had already coached the German Fed-Cup-Player during the US Open. "I need someone who travels with me the whole year. Petar is the right one for that", said Andrea.

Her former coach - Dutchman Glen Schaap - could not accompany her to all of the tournaments around the world due to other liabilities. When Andrea is in Germany, she'll keep herself in shape at the Schüttler-Waske Tennis University in Offenbach.

Petko's Soundtrack

The season is finished so I took some time to create a new issue of Petko's Soundtrack. It's a collection of my current favourite rock-tunes. And, of course, the Petko-Dance.
