The now ranked No. 32 of the WTA defeated Olga Govortsova (BLR | WTA 51) 0:6; 7:5; 6:0 in the first round. "I struggled with the time change in the beginning. And I was still a little bit tired from the matches I played in Linz", Andrea commented on the first set. But after a small medical break she fought her way back into the match and finally rushed through the third set.
In the next round Andrea faces world’s number ten Victoria Azarenka.
Andrea Petkovic has missed the final at the WTA-Tournament in Linz. The 23-year-old lost 2:6; 6:4; 5:7 to Patty Schnyder (SUI | WTA 47) after a fierce battle despite having two matchballs.
