Andrea Petkovic has reached the round of sixteen at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. The world's number 19 defeated Tamira Paszek (AUT | WTA 88) 3:6; 6:2, 6:2 in the first round. "It was very tough and I was a little bit tired in the beginning", said Andrea. "But the fans pushed me so that I managed to get back into the match."
In the round of sixteen Andrea will face Jelena Jankovic (SRB | WTA 8). "You have to fight hard for every point against her. I think I need to run 15 kilometers", said Andrea.

After a real tennis thriller, Andrea Petkovic has advanced to the semifinals of the WTA-Tournament in Miami. The young German took advantage of her third match point to land an impressive 2:6; 6:2; 6:4-victory over Jelena Jankovic (SRB | WTA 7).
In the semifinals Andrea will now face Maria Sharapova (RUS | WTA 13). In their last encounter at the round of sixteen of the Australian Open Andrea took away a 6:2; 6:3-win.

In a spectacular way, Andrea Petkovic has become the first German tennis player since 2001 that reached the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Miami. The personable 23-year-old defeated world number one Caroline Wozniacki in the round of sixteen with 7:5, 3:6, 6:3.
Especially towards the end of the first set Andrea demonstrated her extraordinary fighting spirit, when she was overcoming three set points at a score of 4:5, and later on taking her chances by closing out the set with 7:5.
Having a bye in the first round, Andrea’s first opponent in the Sony Ericsson Open was Jamie Hampton (USA | WTA 127) which she outplayed with a final score of 6:2, 7:5. After an impressing performance in the 3rd round, the 6:0, 6:3 win over Iveta Benesova couldn’t be more deserved by the world ranked 23rd.
In the quarterfinals, Andrea will encounter Jelena Jankovic (SRB | WTA 7) who won over Anabel Medina Garrigues.

Andrea was given a bye into the second round in which she defeated Lucie Safarova (CZE | WTA 32) 7:6 (8): 7:5. The world’s number 23 will now move on to play the tournament in Miami.
