Andrea Petkovic has missed to reach her first semifinals at a Grand Slam in her career. Andrea lost 1-6, 6-7 (5) to Caroline Wozniacki (DEN | WTA 1) in the quarterfinals of the US Open.

The match, that had been postponed one day due to rain and moved to Court 13 because of a crack in the Louis Armstrong Stadium court, didn't start off well for Petko. Wozniacki was able to break Andrea's serve three times and took the first set 6-1. In the second set Andrea improved her game and each player gained three breaks. In the tie-break both Andrea and Caroline hit fierce groundstrokes and the Dane held a lead the whole way through. Wozniacki took a 6-3 lead to reach three match points. Andrea fought off two of those, but was unsuccessful on the third match point.
